Accommodations

1999 NFLRC Summer Institute participants can choose from convenient and cost-effective accommodation options listed below.

East-West Center Residence Halls

Rooms in East-West Center Residence Halls , conveniently located just footsteps from summer institute events on UH campus, are available for summer institute participants as follows:

HALE MANOA/HALE KUAHINE: Double dorm rooms ( 2 single beds) with shared baths are $33 per night. LINCOLN HALL: studios and 1-bedroom apartments - both with private bathrooms and cable TV - are available for $42 and $61 per night, respectively. Air conditioning is NOT available in East-West Center residence halls.

If you are interested in staying in an East-West Center residence hall, you will need to make your reservations directly through the East-West Center housing office as soon as possible.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When making reservations, be sure that you inform the East-West Center housing office that you are an NFLRC Summer Institute Participant. Room reservations made by APRIL 25 are guaranteed for institute participants; after that date, reservations can be made on a space-available basis.

New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel

1999 NFLRC Summer Institute participants who do not wish to book rooms on campus may also stay at the New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel (1-800-35-OTANI); special University of Hawaii rates start at $102/day (standard/non-view room). The University of Hawaii at Manoa is approximately three miles from Waikiki. There is a direct bus line (#4) to and from Waikiki. Standard rooms ($102 rate) at the New Otani are limited, so make reservations as soon as possible. Again, it is important for you to mention that you are an NFLRC Summer Institute participant.

Other Options

Participants can also make private arrangements at any hotels in the Waikiki area, which range in quality and price from budget to super-luxurious. It often turns out that air/hotel packages available from travel agents at the point of origination are cheaper than air plus independently booked hotel rooms.
