This workshop included hands-on training in CLAN for Conversation Analysis, transcription principles and problems, and connecting soundfiles, videofiles, and transcripts. It was designed for 15 teaching hours plus exercises, running over a 5-day period. The teaching hours in the afternoon shifted between lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on activities. The exercises allowed the participants to get on friendly terms with the software and to be able to discuss problems and questions during the course.

The workshop was held at the LA‘E labs on the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa campus from March 31 to April 4, 2003 and was led by Dr. Johannes Wagner (University of Southern Denmark).
