LCTLs and Technology:
Toward a New Language Learning Paradigm

The power of the Internet as an easily accessible tool for creating a language learning environment is too clear for people in academe to ignore. For the LCTLs, use of digital technology for providing access, the chance for acceleration, for individualization of the acquisition process, is crucial if we are to afford instruction in these languages at American academic institutions which are chronically short of qualified language teaching faculty and up-to-date, authentic teaching materials.
