Distance Learning and Implications for Curriculum Design and Teacher Training in LCTLs
Discussion Leader: Eva Prionas

The traditional approach to language learning and teaching has expanded and grown to include new alternatives. These alternatives are need-driven, and they try to address both academic and career student objectives. At the same time, distance learning and especially instruction delivered over the Internet facilitate and shape new curriculum design, and they demand the development of new teacher-training techniques. The impact of the new technological innovations on curriculum design and teacher training will be discussed and illustrated using examples drawn from our experiences at the Special Language Program at Stanford University.
